- Abstract
This study explores the role of Digital Citizenship Education (DCE) in cultivating ethical social media behavior among university students. Conducted at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia and Universitas Terbuka, with a total of 120 respondents 60 from each university enrolled in the Citizenship Education program, specifically the Pancasila Education course the research aimed to assess the impact of DCE on students’ social media ethics. A mixed-method approach was used, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gather comprehensive data. The results show that students who received Digital Citizenship Education demonstrated a higher level of awareness and ethical decision-making in their social media interactions compared to those who did not. The study concludes that Digital Citizenship Education plays a crucial role in fostering responsible, ethical online behavior, highlighting its importance in higher education curricula to prepare students for the digital age.
