- Abstract
Aceh is a seismically active region, with the 2016 Pidie Jaya earthquake highlighting the need for resilient building design. This study evaluates the seismic performance of Building A at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala, in response to a proposed vertical extension from three to five stories. Using SAP2000 and in accordance with SNI 1726:2019, the analysis assessed column capacity, demand-to-capacity ratio, base shear, and inter-story drift. The average concrete compressive strength of the existing structure was found to be 45.68 MPa, exceeding both the design strength and SNI 2847:2019 limits. The 5-story model exhibited excessive drift under static (92.844 mm) and dynamic response spectrum loads (68.933 mm), surpassing the allowable limit of 36.923 mm. However, time history analysis using the 2016 Pidie Jaya earthquake data showed acceptable drift (11.015 mm). The most critical displacement occurred in the X-direction.
