- Abstract
This study aims at investigating the influence of bilateral cooperation on tourism flows between China and Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries. In particular, static and dynamic models are developed to measure Chinese tourist departures to 20 CEE countries and tourist arrivals from 16 CEE countries to China over 2008–2018. A novel approach is applied to directly measure bilateral cooperation by calculating Goldstein index based on Integrated Data for Event Analysis (IDEA) framework. Our findings reveal that bilateral cooperation has significant and positive impact on Chinese outbound and inbound tourism. Current research provides valuable theoretical and practical contributions.
