- Abstract
With a large number of highway bridges in China approaching the later stages of their service life, structural deterioration and frequent defects have become increasingly critical issues, underscoring the need for scientific and effective condition assessment and maintenance strategies. This study investigates a typical aging highway bridge using comprehensive in-situ data, including static load tests, dynamic load tests, and routine inspection records. The mechanical responses and degradation characteristics of key structural components were systematically analyzed and compared with current assessment standards to determine the overall safety condition and major deficiencies of the bridge. Based on these findings, targeted maintenance and strengthening recommendations were proposed to support decision-making for similar bridges. The results demonstrate that condition assessment based on in-situ testing data can significantly improve the scientific rigor and timeliness of bridge management, providing strong engineering value for ensuring the long-term safe operation of highway bridges.
