Abstract

In order to investigate the influence law of different factors on the expansion of water-stabilised base mixes, five factors, namely, gradation type, cement dosage, 0.075mm passage rate, sulphate content, and recuperation conditions, were considered, and the temperature intervals were set to be -20-0℃, 0-20℃, and 20-40℃. The expansion coefficients were calculated for each temperature interval and the length changes were tested, 40–60℃, hold the temperature for 6h in each temperature interval and test the length change to calculate the expansion coefficient. The results show that among the five factors, the one that has the greatest influence on the expansion of cement-stabilized base course is the type of gradation, while the moisture of holding has almost no influence on the expansion coefficient of cement stabilized mixes. In order to effectively inhibit the occurrence of arching and swelling of cement stabilized base course, the maximum particle size of aggregate should be increased appropriately in the design of hydraulic base course material, 3.6% of cement dosage is recommended and effective measures should be taken to reduce the sulphate content of aggregate.
