Abstract

The Industrial Revolution in 19th century Britain gave rise to significant socio-economic changes. With the acceleration of urbanization, a large number of farmers have migrated to cities to become workers, leading to a surge in demand for information, entertainment, and education. Newspapers, as a medium that meets these needs, have experienced rapid development. This article takes 19th century British newspapers as the research object, analyzes the founding background, development process, and characteristics of newspapers at that time, explores the social environment of industrialization, political democratization, and press freedom that promoted the development of newspaper communication, the role of British newspapers in political communication, and their impact on modern news communication. The political propaganda strategy of British newspapers in the 19th century was mainly reflected in the rise of partisan newspapers, the struggle for press freedom, public opinion guidance, and agenda setting. These strategies have played an important role in political communication for British newspapers and have had a profound impact on modern news dissemination.
