Abstract

The Hui nationality’s traditional wooden ball sport is a unique national sports cultural heritage in the northwest region. This sport not only carries the Hui people’s spiritual pursuit of advocating martial arts and morality, but also condenses rich national cultural symbols in the rule system and technical movements. With the acceleration of modernization, wooden ball sport is facing practical difficulties such as the shrinkage of participating groups and the weakening of cultural functions. By sorting out its historical context, this study reveals its multi-dimensional value in body building and physical fitness, cultural identity, national unity and other aspects, deeply analyses the structural contradictions such as the lack of campus inheritance system, the lack of endogenous motive force of competitions, and the sluggish transformation of cultural tourism, and puts forward the coordinated development path of building the foundation of education, the driving force of competitions and the activation of cultural tourism. Explore the innovative mechanism of integrating traditional sports into modern life, and provide practical reference for the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage.
