- Abstract
The Renaissance was known as the period that the rebirth of the classical ideas during fourteen and fifthteen century. People broke free from religion, focused more on theirselves. So there was humanism. This passage analysis two different form of artworks through documents review. The first one is Michelangelo’s Pietà. Through observing sculpture’s expression, the whole body and structure of the muscle. Reflecting Michelangelo’s understanding of the human body structure. Furthermore, by analizing the composition of the sculpture infers the principal part and the main thoughts that Michelangelo hoped to show to audience. The second artwork is Dürer’s Adam and Eve. This study made an analysis of the composition and the details of the plants or animals in the background. Focusing on Adam and Eve’s standing position to reflect the use of human body proportion. In order to express Dürer’s understanding and pursuit of aesthetics. It could be concluded that different artists express humanism in different art forms. The artists in that period used their own ways to express their thought of humanism which means the discover of human. These expression and new definitions were integrated into the work, provoking reflection among the later generations.
