Abstract

The global shift toward sustainability has increased pressure on organizations to provide accurate, transparent, and credible ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) disclosures. This study investigates the strategic role of data analytics in strengthening ESG reporting and enhancing corporate sustainability. Using quantitative insights from 56 managerial professionals and qualitative evidence from case studies of Microsoft, Unilever, IBM, Nestlé, and Tesla, the study demonstrates that data analytics significantly improves ESG reporting accuracy and stakeholder trust. Regression analysis reveals that analytics explains 54.3% of the variance in ESG accuracy and enhances stakeholder trust by 65.4%. Despite these benefits, challenges such as skills shortages, data inconsistencies, and high implementation costs hinder widespread adoption. The discussion incorporates global ESG frameworks including GRI, SASB, EU Taxonomy, and SEBI BRSR, highlighting the role of analytics in strengthening compliance. This paper concludes that data analytics is essential for advancing sustainable business practices and recommends investments in data governance, analytical capabilities, and standardized reporting frameworks.
