Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that requires early intervention. However, current diagnostic methods are often subjective and time-consuming. This project aims to develop an automated model that detects ASD by integrating image features using machine learning and deep learning techniques and dataset of 2540 images. The aim is to develop a helpful, user-friendly tool for identifying early signs of autism, which is crucial for early intervention. To achieve this, we applied several hybrid models: VGG16 + Random Forest, Resnet50 + Random Forest, Resnet50 + SVM and SVM + VGG16.These combinations were chosen for their complementary strengths in classification accuracy, processing speed, and feature extraction. The research focused on data preprocessing, feature selection, and model training for high detection accuracy while minimizing false positives. The results show that these hybrid models significantly improve detection performance considerably, with evidence of the effectiveness of integrating traditional and deep learning methodologies for ASD detection [2][3][8][9]. This is a strong and easy-to-implement solution that can improve clinical screening and facilitate early diagnosis of ASD.
