Abstract

Magnesium is emerging as a most suitable biomaterial thanks to its unique ability to blend naturally with the human body. Magnesium is not only biocompatible but also safely biodegradable, in contrast to conventional materials, meaning it can gradually dissolve in the body without releasing harmful byproducts. This makes it an exciting option for medical applications. When the proper alloying elements and process settings are used, magnesium alloys have appropriate mechanical qualities and a moderate rate of corrosion, which makes them interesting. It was additionally noted that the synthesis methods and component choices have an impact on the characteristics and performance of the magnesium-based biomaterials. Numerous magnesium based materials have been created by researchers using a variety of methods, and they have examined their mechanical characteristics, biocompatibility, and degrading behavior using in silico, in vitro, and in vivo testing. This paper is focused on different applications of magnesium based alloys and composites in the realm of biomedical as well as engineering applications.
