Abstract

The proposed solution aims to create a novel robotic companion that is more suitable for old people by addressing a wide range of problems that elderly people face, this in turn combines real-time autonomous assistance with customized help. The main aim of the proposed model is to enhance the speech interaction component, powered by a Large Language Model (LLM), embedded with the integration of the Robot Operating System (ROS), and combining the SLAM algorithm with an external camera. The exemplary feature of the system is its ability to concurrently deepen both the contextual understanding of events using LLM and the real-time spatial environment using ROS and SLAM. This system integrates both interaction and monitoring unlike the traditional robotic systems that focus on one aspect at a time. It also adds a vision motion-detection and emergency alert functions which introduces a proactive safety mechanism, while task reminders and health monitoring via sensors ensure personalized assistance tailored to individual needs. The integration of these capabilities into a cost-effective and scalable design sets this system apart as an innovative solution for elderly care.
