- Abstract
This project focuses on improving safety on hill bend roads, using an advanced safety system. The system uses an ESP32-CAM module with an integrated GPS to monitor both sides of the bend and detect approaching vehicles. The camera captures images and divides the view into two sections-one for each side of the bend. Using image processing, the system can identify vehicles on either side. When a vehicle approaches from one side of the bend, a red light is triggered on the opposite side to warn oncoming traffic. If vehicles approach from both sides at the same time, red lights are activated on both sides, alerting drivers to potential danger. If there are no vehicles detected, green lights are shown, indicating it is safe to pass. In the next phase, the project will allow for live streaming of the camera feed to a webpage. Every second, the camera captures and updates images that users can view. The system will use the GPS data to calculate the user’s location and check whether they are within a certain distance from the camera. If they are close enough, the live stream will automatically start. If they are too far away, the stream will stop to save bandwidth. In addition to live streaming, the system will include voice and text alerts to warn drivers when a vehicle is detected. These alerts will help drivers stay focused and aware, further reducing the risk of accidents. By combining real-time vehicle detection, location tracking, and live communication, this project aims to make driving on hill bend roads safer and more efficient.
