Abstract

Ensemble Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) has emerged as an innovative field, addressing challenges associated with the absence of a universally superior MCDM technique and the lack of objective methods for selecting the best approach. Researchers have proposed various techniques for combining MCDM methods, including statistical approaches (e.g., geometric mean), voting mechanisms (e.g., majority rule), and optimization methods (e.g., half-quadratic programming). This study introduces a new ensemble method based on Half-Quadratic Programming (HQP), demonstrated through a numerical example. Four widely used MCDM methods, TOPSIS with AHP, TOPSIS with ENTROPY, VIKOR with AHP, and VIKOR with ENTROPY, are applied to a decision matrix with six alternatives and five criteria. The results reveal four different ranking orders and a final ensemble ranking of [1, 4, 6, 2, 5, 3], with optimized weights of [0.349, 0.138, 0.349, 0.166]. The consensus level is 0.915, and the trust index reaches 0.938. The VIKOR method, with varying weights, contributed more significantly to the ensemble ranking. This study demonstrates that HQP effectively aggregates multiple MCDM methods into a unified result, offering valuable insights for future research and application in MCDM methods.
