- Abstract
Career guidance in the modern era faces significant challenges in creating accessible systems that effectively bridge education and employment. While there has been limited research on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in this domain, its potential to transform career guidance services in higher education is increasingly recognized. This paper explores the development of an AI-based career counselling system to enhance guidance within educational institutions. To address this, we have implemented an AI-based career counselling system using the K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN) algorithm to classify candidates’ skill sets and predict the best fit departments for them and K-Means Clustering to analyze student’s academic scores, forming groups that helped us evaluate success rates across various career tracks. These techniques enable dynamic classification of student skills and comprehensive analysis of academic performance, resulting in highly personalized career recommendations. Our proposed model shows superior accuracy and adaptability compared to traditional systems. Furthermore, its capability to process and analyze real-time data ensures it remains aligned with the evolving job market, positioning it as a valuable tool for forward-looking career planning.
