Abstract

The growing need for secure and decentralized file sharing systems has highlighted the drawbacks of many centralized storage solutions, most of which lack security, transparency, and user control. This paper presents Block share, a decentralized file storage and sharing system that leverages blockchain technology and the Inter Planetary File System (IPFS) to keep data unchangeable, access it securely, and share files to anyone in the world efficiently. The main part of this project uses Solidity smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain to manage file permissions. This creates a Zero Trust model with end-to-end encryption. It also uses the MetaMask wallet for user login and wallet setup. A user interface makes it easy to access the system. Tests and results show that the system achieves secure, decentralized, and efficient file storage and sharing, with low latency with secure and easy access control. This paper contributes to the growing body of research on blockchain-based decentralized storage systems by providing a comprehensive solution that addresses key challenges in security, scalability, and usability.
