Abstract

For wireless communications, the 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band is frequently utilized due to its global availability and unlicensed nature. Antenna designed for this band play a crucial role in ensuring signal transmission and reception. Antennas operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band are critical for modern wireless technologies offering high efficiency, ease of integration, and widespread compatibility across different industries. Their importance continues to grow with the increasing demand for wireless connectivity in smart and industrial applications. The primary goal of the project is to build and analyze a Low Profile Inset-fed Rectangular Patch Antenna for ISM band applications running at 2.4 GHz. To ensure compactness and ease of assembly, the proposed antenna is based on a FR 4 substrate with a thickness of 1.6 mm and a dielectric constant of 4.4. The Inset-fed approach is used to provide adequate impedance matching and improve antenna performance. The antenna is designed to have a return loss of -23.98 dB, a gain of 2.47 dB, and a VSWR of less than 1.139, making it appropriate for applications involving wireless communication like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Internet of Things networks.
