Abstract

Fog computing is quickly becoming a game changer in healthcare by addressing some of the limitations of traditional cloud systems. Processes data locally, right at the network’s edge, which means it can reduce delays, better manage bandwidth, and improve how quickly healthcare systems can respond in real time. This paper delves into how fog computing’s multi-layered architecture works together with healthcare IoT devices to support essential services like monitoring patients remotely, analyzing surgical data and managing chronic illnesses. Discussion of various techniques for scheduling tasks, scaling systems, and allocating resources, discussing how each affects performance and helps cut down on latency. Also, explored how fog computing can push forward predictive analytics, boost telemedicine, and maintain continuous care in areas that are typically underserved. Although fog computing has a lot of promise, there are still challenges, such as making different systems work together, ensuring data is secure and handling its growth. This study points out these challenges and suggests directions for future research to fully unlock fog computing’s potential to transform healthcare.
