Abstract

Due to the high boiling point of residue, hydrocarbons mainly occurred liquid-phase reactions in the delayed coking process. To enhance the gas-phase cracking of residues, the high temperature and short residence time processing scheme was performed in a Py-GC/TOF-MS apparatus. The residue was cracked at 600, 700 and 800 °C in 200ms, and the variations of product compositions from C3 to C16 with pyrolysis temperature were analyzed. The results showed that the high-temperature and short-residence time operation favors production of olefins over paraffins. The most abundant classes are C5 and C6 both in olefins and paraffins.
