Abstract

This paper studied tourism service quality at the destination level. The tourism industry stakeholders, namely tourists, residents, and service providers, are surveyed by a pre-tested interview schedule. For analyses, perceptions regarding service quality are transformed into weights destination-wise. The individual designed weights are loaded in the master table in the place of the Likert scale values. It helped to conduct a reliable estimation of tourism service quality for each destination. Further, the composite index method compiles the multidimensional aspects of tourism services, which the single indicators can’t analyze. In this context, the Tourism Services Quality Index assessed the ease of use and quality of different services at destinations in Kashmir Valley. The results confirm moderate performance and vary among the services according to the destinations’ economic growth and level of urbanization. It is comparatively less in the case of banking, information, markets, and malls. Therefore, a complete audit and account of service providers and strong government backup is required to enhance service quality and achieve destination development.
