Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of adiwiyata activities in cultivating literacy in elementary schools. This research method uses a qualitative approach by collecting observation, interview and documentation data. This research was conducted with subjects involving 26 grade 5 students and 1 teacher. Data collection techniques are carried out through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that through adiwiyata activities it can help students to learn more effectively and achieve optimal results in efforts to cultivate literacy. The data analysis used in this research is interactive with stages of reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. Supporting factors in cultivating literacy include teacher commitment, teachers who package literacy programs in an interesting way, establishing cooperation between teachers in school literacy programs, and using media as an appropriate literacy source. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited use of learning media and facilities, habits that have not been ingrained in students in reading, and insufficient time allocation.
