- Abstract
This study explores the characteristics and significance of the Chinese public sphere through public space. Previous studies of China’s public sphere have focused on public life sustained by informal public spaces but have not further analyzed public space. Based on the library-based method, this study analyzes the concept of the public sphere, reviews the Chinese public sphere scholarship, and combines the discussion on the publicity of space to argue that public space, as a physical and accessible medium for public life, is also the prerequisite for forming public life, and more importantly, it is an essential perspective for understanding Chinese public sphere.
