Abstract

In response to the rapid expansion of the used car market and the concurrent shortage of versatile appraisal professionals—particularly the critical gap in trained specialists for New Energy Vehicle (NEV) appraisal—this study deeply integrates the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach with the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) engineering education model. This integrated OBE-CDIO framework is applied to the reform of the “Used Car Appraisal and Evaluation” course. Starting from industry demands and centering on the goal of cultivating students’ core competencies, the research systematically constructs a closed-loop teaching system based on the entire “Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate” process. Specific pathways include: precisely aligning with job competency standards, modularly restructuring course content, implementing project-driven teaching, building an integrated “theory-virtual practice-hands-on practice” platform, and establishing a diverse and dynamic evaluation system. Practical application shows that this model effectively improves students’ core appraisal competencies (especially for used NEVs) and their overall professional capabilities. It successfully addresses issues in traditional teaching such as outdated content, weak practical components, and simplistic evaluation metrics. It provides a transferable practical model for similar course reforms in application-oriented universities.
