Abstract

The cosmopolitanization of English environment in Hainan tourism services has two implications: the translation of public notices and the cosmopolitanization of tourism English, and the latter plays a direct role in building Hainan’s tourism brand image, promoting the cosmopolitanization of Hainan’s tourism development, and enhancing Hainan’s attractiveness to foreign tourists. This paper focuses on the “what”, “why” and “how” of the cosmopolitanization of English environment in Hainan tourism services, and provides new ideas and insights: The practical research on the cosmopolitanization of English environment in Hainan tourism services has a solid theoretical and practical foundation; the ways and strategies to improve it are provided; the practical research of relevant new ideas and methods can help to promote the cosmopolitanization of Hainan tourism development, help to enhance Hainan’s tourism brand image, attractiveness and popularity, and help to use tourism as a medium to “understand Hainan, communicate with the world” and spread Chinese culture. The current preliminary research and its results and findings have laid the foundation for further research on the “what”, “why” and “how” of cosmopolitanization of English environment in Hainan tourism services.
