Abstract

With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, civil and transportation engineering education faces an urgent need for digital transformation. This paper analyzes the shortcomings of traditional civil engineering teaching in terms of content, methodology, practical training, and assessment, and explores the feasibility and specific pathways for empowering teaching reform with AI technology. By proposing the construction of domain-specific large language models, the development of multi-scenario intelligent agents, the design of personalized learning paths, and the establishment of virtual-real integrated training platforms, a new teaching model centered on “teacher-machine-student” collaboration is introduced. Concurrently, strategies are proposed to address potential issues in AI application, such as over-reliance, weakening of fundamental theory, and data security. Research indicates that AI holds the potential to profoundly transform civil engineering education towards greater intelligence, personalization, and practicality, providing support for cultivating interdisciplinary engineering talent suited for the digital-intelligent era.
