- Abstract
Chinese films have faced challenges in cross-cultural communication, but The Wandering Earth marked a breakthrough. The film achieved significant box office success, especially in North America, and has been hailed as a milestone in Chinese sci-fi. This study uses The Wandering Earth as a case study, building an online review corpus to analyze its cross-cultural impact and identify key factors behind its success. It argues that while the quality of the film is important, differences in values and ways of thinking play a crucial role in reception. Addressing these gaps involves creating emotional resonance while preserving cultural uniqueness, which can help establish a distinctive brand for Chinese cinema.
