Abstract

With the continuous reform of educational curricula and the rapid development of modern technology, the importance of practical learning has become increasingly prominent, and technology-enhanced education and teaching have also received widespread attention. Virtual reality technology, as an emerging technological means, provides students with an innovative virtual learning environment characterized by immersion and interaction, effectively enhancing and cultivating their learning efficiency and comprehensive practical abilities, and greatly compensating for some shortcomings and limitations of traditional teaching methods. However, there are still some shortcomings in terms of subject adaptability, educational resources, and teachers’ competency and literacy. This article analyzes the feasibility of applying virtual reality technology in practical geography learning and explores the unique advantages of 3D classrooms over traditional teaching models for both teachers and students. The analysis shows that the incorporation of virtual reality technology has diversified educational and teaching models, and has brought many new experiences to geographical practical learning. Based on this, this paper suggests allowing students to engage in autonomous inquiry learning through virtual reality technology, and strengthening the integration of teachers’ competencies and educational resources.
