Abstract

Addressing the challenges of energy transition (ET) knowledge adoption among tertiary students requires urgent attention due to the limited awareness and understanding, especially among young individuals, alongside the imperative need for more comprehensive curricula within educational programs to effectively navigate the complexities of climate change mitigation and the transition to renewable energy sources. The overarching objective of this study is to; (1) systematically investigate the limitations in awareness and understanding of energy transition processes among tertiary students and (2) propose actionable recommendations for enhancing educational programs by developing robust curricula to effectively address the challenges and requirements associated with climate change mitigation and the transition to renewable energy sources. This paper will guide the readers in terms of energy transition knowledge among tertiary students which can empower them to act, understand the challenges, and contribute to a sustainable future. Furthermore, it will prove advantageous for individuals with a keen interest in energy transition knowledge including policymakers, academia, industries, professionals and experts who actively contribute to and shape the discourse surrounding energy-related matters.
