Abstract

In a nation celebrating its diverse cultures, the government ardently promotes national heritage, recently exemplified by the spotlight on the Miss Grand Vietnam beauty pageant. This event gains global attention, notably through its captivating “National Costume Fashion Show,” acting as a conduit for transmitting national identity. Our research innovatively explores this uncharted terrain by amalgamating methodologies to identify cultural fragments seamlessly woven into the contest. Overlooking the show’s profound implications, previous investigations inspire our focus on its untapped potential as a vehicle for cultural transcendence. By examining Playfulness, Escape, Togetherness, Sacredness, and Placeness, our quantitative study involving 350 respondents illuminates a tapestry of cultural elements artfully interwoven into costumes. Decoding these elements fortifies the narrative of Vietnamese culture, promising a new era where fashion converges with national identity in a groundbreaking advertising paradigm.
