Abstract

Internet buzzwords are a product of the advancement of the Internet era and a window reflecting the development trends and social phenomena of contemporary society. Internet users obtain the right to know about social events and the right to free expression on Internet platforms, and use the timeliness and recognition of Internet buzzwords to influence the daily communication methods of the public. This paper takes the “Top 10 Internet Buzzwords of 2024” as the research object, explores the essence, formation mechanism and social functions of Internet buzzwords, and interprets their formation mechanism and part of their social functions to further understand Internet buzzwords.
