- Abstract
This study aims to examine the dynamics of hybridity and marginality in learning Pancasila Education through the integration of Web-Based Learning based on cultural media “Lokawastra” in MAN 2 Malang City. The background of this research departs from the low participation of students and the limitations of pedagogical innovation in Pancasila learning, which is still predominantly textual and conventional. A qualitative approach with a case study design is used to understand the process and meaning behind the application of Lokawastra media as a form of meeting between tradition and modernity in a digital classroom. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively with the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2014) model and described using a thick description approach. The results show that forms of hybridity appear in three main domains: (1) pedagogical hybridity, in the form of a combination of traditional methods and digital projects; (2) media hybridity, through the combination of visual content of Motif Wastra with online platforms; and (3) cultural hybridity, which reflects the negotiation of student identity between local and global values. Meanwhile, marginality appears in the limitations of teachers’ digital literacy and students’ access to technology, but instead gives birth to a new form of cultural agency through collaboration and digital mutual cooperation. The integration of Lokawastra Web-Based Learning has been proven to increase active participation, critical thinking skills, creativity, and appreciation for cultural values and Pancasila. This study concludes that hybridity can be an effective pedagogical strategy to overcome marginality in Pancasila learning. The Web-Lokawastra model presents inclusive, adaptive, and contextual learning—making Pancasila not only a normative doctrine, but also a life value internalized through digital and cultural experiences.
