Abstract

Although drama appeared late in China, it has produced a group of influential playwrights and theatrical works. Among many excellent realistic drama works, Mr. Lao She’s “Teahouse” is a leader. Drama is a form of drama that focuses on dialogue, and language expression is crucial. This article explores the linguistic charm of “Teahouse” from three aspects. Firstly, it is about integrating into life. People speak the language of “life” and the language of “living” on stage; Secondly, it is closely related to the characters, whose language is in line with their respective identities and personalities, highlighting their personalities and perfectly reflecting the language characteristics of drama that “whoever says what”; The third is the timeless flavor of Beijing. The language of “Teahouse” has a strong local flavor of Beijing, hidden behind the Beijing accent and rhyme, deeply reflecting the “Beijing flavor” that is full of words and infinite in meaning.
