- Abstract
Pan Jinlian is a typical literary figure in traditional Chinese culture, often symbolizing licentiousness archetype of a woman who brings disasters. In the classic Chinese novel “Water Margin”, she plays a key role. Beyond her notorious acts of adultery and murder, she also serves as a catalyst for Wu Song’s eventual journey to Liangshan. On the basis of Pan Jinlian’s surviving background, life experiences, and characteristics, this paper will explore the underlying causes of her tragic fate.
