- Abstract
The phenomenon of social pain has become an increasing concern as societal demands intensify. Social pain refers to the psychological distress experienced by individuals due to social rejection, isolation, or interpersonal conflicts. Music, as a non-pharmacological psychological intervention, has been shown to influence mood regulation positively. This study investigates the alleviating effects of piano playing on social pain through questionnaires and experimental analysis, comparing the effects of different styles of piano compositions. Results indicate that piano playing significantly alleviates social pain, particularly through romantic and popular music. However, further research is needed to explore its effectiveness in relieving physical pain.
