Abstract

This paper, based on previous literature, deeply analyzes the application performance of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and the BeiDou Navigation System (BDS) in earthquake monitoring and major earthquake early warning. By systematically reviewing the development history of the BDS-1, BDS-2, and BDS-3 systems, this study focuses on comparing their performance in high-precision deformation monitoring. Specific data on positioning accuracy, system stability, and anti-jamming capabilities were extracted and combined with the latest experimental designs for innovative analysis, revealing the significant advantages of BDS-3 in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The study shows that under certain conditions, the positioning accuracy of BDS3 has approached or even surpassed that of GPS, especially in complex terrains and major earthquake early warning scenarios. This paper provides detailed theoretical support and data references for the future application of satellite navigation systems in earthquake science and proposes experimental schemes for further validation of BDS3’s performance.
