Clara Schumann (hereinafter referred to as Clara), as one of the most important female pianists and composers in the Romantic period of the 19th century, her work Three Romances Op.22 was composed in 1853, which was at the maturity of her artistic career. The structure of Clara’s work is free, and its poetic meaning and personal originality reflect her profound understanding of Romantic music. Through literature method, score analysis method, reviewing a large number of Chinese and foreign academic materials, this study takes the score of Three Romances Op.22 as an example, analyses her Romantic compositional techniques, analyses how the structure, harmony and emotional expression of the work integrate classical rigour and romantic poeticism, and intervenes from a gender perspective to re-position Clara’s historical role, re-examine Clara’s position in the history of music, and promote the research and dissemination of classical repertoire.
