Abstract

Aiming at the sound perception problem of hearing-impaired people due to hearing loss, this study designs and produces a sound visualization device “Cloud Sound” by integrating installation art and interactive technology with the theory of sensory compensation as the core basis. With the help of Touch Designer software to build a sound interaction system, the device transforms sounds of different emotions into corresponding color symbols and dynamic stripes, and then projects them onto the surface of the physical device in the shape of a “cloud tree” through 3D mapping technology, so that the hearing-impaired people can visually “see” the sound. Through 3D mapping technology, the projector was projected onto the surface of the physical installation in the shape of a “cloud tree”, allowing the hearing impaired to intuitively “see” the emotional information in the sound. By collecting effective feedback from the participants, we will verify the effectiveness of the device in assisting the hearing impaired in understanding sound information and promoting social and emotional integration. It is hoped that this work can provide a practical example for the application of the concept of sensory compensation, especially in the field of barrier-free design.
