Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Medicine place a substantial influence on children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and provide them with opportunities and challenges. The diagnostic and care processes could be enhanced, and AI-driven health tools may lead to issues such as biased algorithm, privacy, and disparities in access. Without a proper check of AI systems or the training of the AI on unjust data, children with IDD may experience bias or even be discriminated against. To ensure accountability, transparency and express consent to the use of AI, we therefore need powerful regulations. There is also need to ensure that the children are safeguarded through inclusive design and data regulations which are centered on children. To create equitable and trustworthy digital health systems everyone needs a smart strategy combining AI advancements and keeping children safe. The paper examines the extent to which AI is applied in addressing childhood IDD and its consequences and the issues about AI-inspired changes. It also explains the governmental backing and the effects in general.
