Abstract

The study aims to examine how effective talent management practices can transform academic library professionalsfrom competent service providers into creative innovators. It focuses on identifying strategies that enhance staff creativity, career development, and organizational resilience in the context of evolving digital and user-centered library environments. A mixed-method research approach was adopted, combining a structured questionnaire survey and qualitative interviews with library professionals from selected academic institutions of Kolkata. The data were analyzed to evaluate existing practices in recruitment, professional training, performance appraisal, and recognition of creativity. The study reveals that while most academic libraries acknowledge the need for professional development, structured talent management frameworks are limited. Career progression and creativity are often constrained by rigid administrative systems, insufficient institutional policies, and inadequate training programs. The research emphasizes that integrating talent management into library strategies can significantly enhance innovation, staff motivation, and service effectiveness.
