- Abstract
This paper seeks to explore the issues surrounding the process of governance in Indonesia in the era of post-reform through the discussion on democratization, institutional development, and good governance challenges. From 1998 onwards, the reform period in Indonesia saw several important political and institutional developments through decentralization, democratization process, and active involvement of public in the governance process. Through qualitative and descriptive research methods, this paper explores how the issue of democratization impacts the performance and efficiency of the institutions in Indonesia. It is found that although the democratization process has opened up the process of governance in Indonesia, yet some major problems still persist in ensuring transparency and efficiency in public sectors institutions.
