Abstract

Fake news has emerged as a significant challenge in the digital age. Increased exposure to misleading information can have major implications, including social misconceptions. The inoculation theory offers an effective theoretical framework to enhance individuals’ resilience against fake news through exposure to structured and weakened arguments. This research aims to look at past studies in a structured way to understand how gamified inoculation interventions work and how effective they are. This research conducted a systematic literature review. The method entails formulating research questions, constructing search strings, selecting the appropriate database, establishing inclusion and exclusion criteria, determining quality assessment, designing the data extraction form, and synthesizing the findings. The results indicated that previous studies suggest gamified inoculation interventions enhance fake news literacy, information discernment, and critical thinking skills. Moreover, there is divergence about whether inoculation improves truth discernment versus just skepticism or manipulativeness detection, this variation may depend on the methods employed in the assessments.
