- Abstract
Diabetes is the fourth leading cause of death globally, causing 1.6 million deaths annually. This study aimed to analyze the risk factors for type II diabetes mellitus at the Siulak Gedang Community Health Center, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency. Using a cross-sectional design with accidental sampling, the study involved 250 respondents from the Siulak Gedang area. The results showed that the most significant risk factors for type II diabetes were family history (p=0.000), hypertension (p=0.001), and obesity (p=0.000). No significant relationships were found between age (p=0.078), gender (p=0.134), and smoking behavior (p=0.134). The Population Attributable Risk Percent (PAR%) calculation revealed that 12% of type II diabetes cases in individuals with a family history, 15% in those with hypertension, and 15% in those with obesity could be prevented by improving Body Mass Index (BMI).
