Abstract

Women’s participation in higher education is an important manifestation of efforts to achieve gender equality, in line with SDG Goal 5. Therefore, it is important to intensify the promotion of SDG Goal 5 in the academic environment, including at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS). Currently, UNS has organised various programmes that support the implementation of Goal 5, but the promotion of these initiatives has yet to be optimal. To maximise the implementation of gender equality on campus, awareness raising among students is needed. UNS also has various information platforms that can potentially be used to disseminate SDGs programs, but their use for promotion, especially on Goal 5, still needs to be improved. This article aims to develop an effective communication strategy in informing the implementation of SDG Goal 5 at UNS. The methodology used is a desk study, using a reference framework from the book Communication Strategy for the Implementation of Achieving Sustainable Development Goals published by Bappenas combined with various recommendations from previous literature studies. The results of this study produce a number of strategic steps that can increase student awareness of Goal 5 implementation, one of which is a social media campaign. With this communication strategy recommendation, it is hoped that it can be a reference for agencies in an effort to promote and increase student awareness of the implementation of SDG 5 at UNS.
