Abstract

Waste water is the residue of a processing process from business activities that has the potential for pollution and destruction and negative impacts on the environment. Therefore, every business actor, especially industrial business actors, is required to make a waste water treatment plant (WWTP) and must comply with the provisions of regulations governing waste water treatment in the environment. The research aim to find out the obligations of business actors in waste water treatment and the regulation of the obligations of industrial business actors in making WWTP according to laws and regulations. This research method uses normative legal research. The data collection technique uses literature study. The result of this research is that the obligation of business actors in waste water treatment is regulated in Article 130 paragraph (1) of Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management which states that the person in charge of businesses and/or activities that produce waste water must treat waste water. WWTP management is an obligation for every industrial business in Indonesia in accordance with the governing regulations, namely Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Job Creation, Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management and other implementing regulations. The purpose of making a WWTP for industrial businesses is to reduce the occurrence of risks to the environment in the form of pollution and/or environmental damage which has considerable potential and can have a negative impact.
