Abstract

This study aims to test the role of financial digitalization in mediating the influence of financial inclusion and intellectual capital on SME financial performance in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The sample for this research is SMEs in DIY. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling based on district/city areas in DIY, which include Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, Kulon Progo Regency and Gunung Kidul Regency. A total sample of 227 SMEs was obtained. The data analysis technique used was Structural Equation Modeling. The results of data testing show that financial inclusion has an insignificant positive effect on SME financial performance, whereas intellectual capital and financial digitalization have a significant positive effect on SME financial performance. The results of this research found the evidence that financial digitalization is able to mediate the influence of financial inclusion and intellectual capital on SME financial performance in DIY. It means that financial digitization contributes significantly to improving SME financial performance.
