Abstract

The Blue Economy provides companies with a framework to integrate sustainability principles into marine resource management and fostering environmentally friendly business practices. By investing in technologies such as renewable ocean energy, businesses reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, sustainable practices help preserve marine ecosystems, ensuring the long-term availability of these resources. Adopting a Blue Economy approach not only supports corporate sustainability goals but also enhances a company’s global competitiveness and reputation in an increasingly environmentally conscious market. This study addresses a gap in the literature by analyzing current research trends in the Blue Economy through a mixed-methods approach. It combines bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer with a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol. The research reviewed 442 documents from Scopus (2015-2024) on topics related to the Blue Economy, sustainable development, and business. After screening, 43 articles were selected for analysis. The study identifies 28 items, 4 clusters, and 330 total link strengths related to sustainable business management. The term “business” is highlighted as an area for future research, with only 30 link strengths since its first mention in 2022. The findings are expected to guide academics, policymakers, and practitioners in leveraging the Blue Economy for sustainable business management.
