- Abstract
The quality of peer relationships has a profound impact on various aspects of an individual’s mental processes and behaviours. Poor peer relationships can lead to difficulties in self and social interaction and increase the risk of significant mental and psychological pressures. The current study examined the association between peer relationships and student academic performance among college students and explored the mediating role of subjective well-being and the moderating role of personality traits in that relationship. A questionnaire was given to 354 college students, and the findings revealed that peer relationships significantly and favourably predicted academic performance; positive emotions partially mediated the effect of peer relationships on college student performance; neuroticism moderated the relationship between peer relationships and student GPA results. The findings of this study serve as a solid foundation for a further in-depth investigation into the connection between peer relationships and student academic achievement.
