Abstract

Batuan Village in Gianyar Regency, Bali, is one of the villages with rich local cultural and artistic potential. However, most tourists only recognize and visit Pura Puseh, even though the village offers many other equally attractive cultural tourism attractions. This imbalance in tourist visit distribution presents a major challenge in the holistic development of village tourism. This paper aims to analyze this issue and describe a community-based tourism development strategy through the Batuan Xperience program. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews with village officials and residents, as well as documentation studies. The findings indicate that limited promotion, a lack of digital marketing strategies, and weak integration among attractions are the primary factors contributing to the underutilization of the village’s broader tourism potential. Through a community empowerment approach, digital marketing training, structured tour package development, and the creation of promotional content based on local narratives, Batuan Xperience provides an alternative strategy to increase community involvement and enhance the distribution of tourist visits. This strategy also supports local economic empowerment and extends the length of tourists’ stay in the village. The paper concludes that leveraging the strength of local communities in managing and promoting cultural attractions is key to building a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable village tourism model.
