Abstract

This study examines the similarities and differences in Feng Shui culture between Northern China and the Lingnan region, highlighting its specific manifestations in the literary work White Deer Plain and the television drama In-Laws, Out-Laws. Through an in-depth analysis of these two works, the research identifies that Northern Feng Shui culture places greater emphasis on tomb Feng Shui, the integration of Yin and Yang, and its connection to familial destiny, as well as incorporating elements of totem worship. In contrast, Feng Shui culture in the Lingnan region is predominantly applied to ancestral halls and commercial layouts, integrating characteristics of the local climate. Although both regions share core concepts and fundamental principles, such as the importance of the natural environment and the impact on fortune, they exhibit distinctive regional characteristics in their specific applications and cultural connotations. By exploring the expression of Feng Shui culture across different regions, this study reveals its adaptability and evolutionary characteristics, offering valuable insights for architectural planning and design, and providing a novel perspective on the social psychology and behavioral patterns of distinct regions.
