Abstract

This study investigates how Artificial Intelligence (AI) supports the integration of green technologies to advance the circular economy (CE), with a focus on Oman’s sustainable development initiatives under Vision 2040. A systematic literature review (SLR) covering 312 peer-reviewed studies (2018–2023) was conducted, followed by topic modeling using Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), LDAVis, and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). Eleven thematic clusters were identified, including AI in manufacturing, supply chain intelligence, sustainable energy, and green engineering transitions. The LDA model highlighted interdisciplinary links, while MDS visualization mapped topic proximity and revealed emerging research directions.

Findings demonstrate AI’s role as a core enabler of eco-innovation, resource efficiency, and waste reduction, aligning with Oman’s sustainability goals. The study contributes methodologically by combining SLR, topic modeling, and visualization tools, and substantively by contextualizing results for a developing economy. Policy implications emphasize the need for AI-driven innovation, capacity building, and supportive regulatory frameworks. Limitations include SLR bias and region-specific focus, suggesting the need for empirical validation and comparative regional studies.
